The Naugatuck Savings Bank Foundation has awarded a $500 grant to the Howard Whittemore Memorial Library to help fund the upgrade of its children’s nonfiction book collection for grades K-6.

The Naugatuck Savings Bank Foundation has awarded grants totaling $10,000 to the St. Vincent DePaul Mission of Waterbury to support its Soup Kitchen, Food Pantry and Shelter programs.

“Naugatuck Savings Bank had a solid year with a 2.9% increase in total assets during 2012,” said Charles J. Boulier III, President and Chief Executive Officer of Nutmeg Financial MHC. “We are very pleased with our 2012 results especially given the challenges faced by all community banks in a continuing environment of slow economic growth, low interest rates and more stringent and costly regulations.”

The Naugatuck Savings Bank Foundation awarded a $5,000 grant to the Cheshire Public Library to support its Teen Reading Room project. The project was a 2012 initiative to expand the library’s current services to teens ages 12-17 years of age.

The Naugatuck Savings Bank Foundation awarded grants totaling $26,300 to fund the scoreboard at Oxford High School’s new athletic field complex, which broke ground late last summer.

John W. Jahne has joined Nutmeg Financial, MHC as Chief Information Officer. In this role, he is responsible for all information technology, information security and facilities for Nutmeg Financial, MHC, and its wholly-owned subsidiaries Naugatuck Savings Bank and Sutherland Insurance Group.

The Naugatuck Savings Bank Foundation has awarded a $10,000 grant to the Boys & Girls Club of Greater Waterbury to support its Triple Play Program, a program that encourages healthy lifestyles for children.
