Q: What is the Naugatuck Savings Bank Foundation Community Awards Program?

A: The Naugatuck Savings Bank Foundation Community Awards Program allows Naugatuck Savings Bank customers to vote for their choice of deserving local non-profits. Qualifying organizations will receive a share of $50,000 in grants awarded by the Foundation.

Q: Which organizations can qualify to receive a grant?

A: Any local non-profit organization that has a current 501(c)(3) certificate, or equivalent, agrees to spend the grant money on local needs and receives at least 1% of the votes is eligible. Eligible organizations must provide proof of their non-profit status. Winning organizations will be awarded a proportional share of the $50,000. The maximum award is $5,000.

Q: How many votes do I need to receive at least 1% of the votes?

A: That will depend on the total number of votes we receive. Last year, organizations needed just 18 votes to qualify for an award. Every vote counts!

Q: Do organizations need to register to participate?

A: No, customers of NSB simply vote for their favorite, eligible non-profit and, if they qualify, the organization will receive a grant that is proportional to the percentage of votes they received.

Q: How do NSB customers vote?

A: Simple! Customers of NSB may click here to vote online. Only one vote per customer, however, for accounts with multiple owners, each owner may vote. Customers with multiple accounts may only vote once. Each customer can vote for only one organization. Paper ballots are also available in all of our branches. Photocopies of ballots are also acceptable.

Q: Why is the NSB Foundation doing this?

A: Naugatuck Savings Bank has always taken its commitment to the communities we serve very seriously – that is the reason the NSB Foundation was created. As a leading corporate citizen, we believe that it is our responsibility to make our communities better. We also value the opinions of our customers, so much so that the NSB Foundation Community Awards Program lets each customer voice their opinion on who is deserving of a grant from the NSB Foundation.

Q: Is this all of the money that the NSB Foundation will contribute to local non-profit organizations this year?

A: No! The NSB Foundation Community Awards Program is just one part of our overall corporate giving plan. Annually we award grants to approximately 100 agencies that support our communities in the areas of health and human services, education, recreation and the arts.

Q: How will I know if the non-profit I voted for received any of the grant money?

A: After all the votes are tabulated, the organizations receiving the grants will be notified. There will also be information about the results in local newspapers, as well as posted in our branch offices and on our website.
